But mostly I think companies learned that there was so much money in it. This stuff sold like hotcakes when it was gendered. I do wonder about the class element of gender reveal parties, too. The woman who came up with the idea ended up renouncing it (see last chapter of my book) in part because her daughter cried when she got "boy legos" for Christmas.
good point about $. That is what I have said to young people in the grips of this. Follow the money. Big Pharma and medical industrial complex are making people into lifetime patients.
