The phrase “breaking news” feels more relevant every day. Revelations are dropping from the ether—or, more accurately, from the documents released via lawsuits over bans—and should be shattering the narrative of “evidence-based, life-saving care.”
Are they? Not quite yet in the liberal media. But if you’re the type who wants reform instead of permanent culture war, you’re going to need liberals to pivot. And for that, you’ll need liberal media to pivot more than it has. Keep up those op-eds and letters to the editor!
Yesterday’s poorly reported and weirdly slanted story about Chloe Cole in the LA Times seems straight outta 2021. The author doesn’t mention the debates over the efficacy and safety of intense medical interventions for the diaphanous idea of gender identity; the shifts in Europe; the scandals revealed over the past few months. To report this way now, in 2024, is to willfully ignore reality. Cole herself says she doesn’t care about politics. If Democrats were willing to embrace her and pay her to lobby so that other children don’t endure what she did, I imagine she’d go for it, too.
The liberal media pretty much ignored big news concerning the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, while more conservative outlets went deep:
Top Transgender Health Group Said Hormones, Surgeries Were 'Medically Necessary' So That Insurance Would Cover Them, Documents Show—The World Professional Association for Transgender Health said the language was a 'tool' attorneys could use 'in defending access to care' (The Washington Free Beacon)
How Deep Does the Corruption of Transgender Ideology Go? —An attempt to undo Alabama’s protection of children from medicalized gender transition instead revealed the rot at the heart of this pernicious worldview. “The media have focused on the documents’ disclosure that a senior Biden administration official — Admiral Rachel Levine — pressured the leading transgender medical group into dropping age limits for sex-change treatments. But the real revelation is that the World Professional Association for Transgender Health routinely puts advocacy ahead of medical evidence, while publicly asserting the opposite.” (National Review)
Next week we’ll talk more about how liberals media should report!

A take home for me is this: But if you’re the type who wants reform instead of permanent culture war, you’re going to need liberals to pivot.”
That article on Chloe Cole is demented. How does one arrive at the conclusion that a young girl who was irreversibly medically harmed is the ideologue with an agenda in that situation, as opposed to the people involved in facilitating it? Oh yeah, it’s gender world, where everything is exactly the opposite of what is being claimed.
