I Want to Hold an Event for Liberals and Democrats
To help them navigate this issue before the midterms
Last weekend, 30-odd people gathered for an afternoon in upstate New York to feel less alone. We were mostly liberals and Democrats (though for a few months last year I was an independent), opposed to the beliefs about gender identity institutionalized in schools, mental health, medicine, and the entire liberal establishment—and to our compelled participation in them. Evie Ullman from the Massachusetts chapter of Democrats for an Informed Approach to Gender (DIAG) and I decided to hold the event, hoping we could contribute to liberals not only feeling safe speaking up, but understanding that the beliefs we’re opposing are fundamentally illiberal, endangering the rights of women and gays/lesbians—groups whose rights Democrats used to champion.
My ultimate goal, though, is to hold an in-person workshop/conference for liberals and Democrats, which would include politicians and aides, Democratic strategists, open-minded members of the media and many others, in order to help Democrats overcome the achilles heel of this issue so that we can win in the midterms.
Being anti-Trump is not enough. Democrats need to be able to articulate what they are for. Until they reckon with this issue, they can’t.
Topics could include, for example:
· How to really understand the science.
· Why objecting to gender identity curricula is a liberal act
· Model policies that respect gender diversity and respect biological reality.
I’m looking for people to help make such an event happen—and of course, money and a space. Please DM me if that’s you! In the meantime, please leave suggestions in the comments.

Looking at some 'greatest hits' from No Kings last weekend and it's clear if we want separation of gendertheory & state, Democrats need to lose the midterms. The 2024 national lesson went unlearned and there's no chance they find common sense en masse by next year. Witnessing various Dems attempt to defend their ridiculous positions on the campaign trail may be more effective than attempting rational talk. Call it cringe-therapy.
What would be the objective of those two or so hours? Would a certain level of knowledge on the subject be presumed, or would it be mainly Information? Community-building for those wandering alone in the wilderness? Or political strategy session for the fully initiated? I think narrowing down aims will help focus the mind and clear the path to planning it.
