1) The influencer, activist, and pseudo-journalist Erin Reed. Reed has gained credibility out in the world for sober-sounding pieces that actually completely void of rigor. The most recent being raising the alarm about the "buried" research in the UK about suicide. Reed has a cover of legitimacy that those of us who just want truth and honesty to prevail find completely aggravating. Lisa, can you write a good take down of this person besmirching the profession?
2) What does the PPA think is going to happen if their folks read the CASS review? Do they actually think that the errors are so blatant that it will be instantly debunked or will people actually recognize the reasonableness of it? Are they choosing to shoot themselves in the foot? Is it reverse psychology from the psychology association?
Re Calif groomer protection Act, here's a few comments from local politicians. Not that these comments mater in short term. none are from party in power. Still, shows some have figured out what a harmful fraud dems hv swallowed.
"Barriers between schools, kids, and parents are a bad idea. They create opportunities for mistreatment and abuse while keeping parents in the dark and even forcing schools to lie to parents...We need to protect our kids, support them, and foster open and transparent partnerships between parents, children, and schools. AB 1955 does the opposite.”
- Former Republican Calif State Assemblywoman Suzette Valladares
"I believe parents should guide their children, not the state. Progressive policymakers believe they know better than parents"
- Calif State Senator Scott Wilk.
Patrick Gipson, a Republican who is running to fill current Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo’s seat, feels this move by Newsom and the democratic supermajority is a “direct slap in the face” to all parents here in California.
It’s deceitful, it’s manipulative, and it promotes lying,” Gipson said. "As a parent, I’m upset. As a victim of childhood sexual abuse, I am deeply saddened and concerned about potential abuse, exploitation, and medical mistreatment that can stem from this law,” Gipson said. “We need to foster MORE communication between parents, schools, teachers, and children — NOT put up huge barriers."
I’m curious why the Tavistock evidence on suicide which we already knew about (thanks to Michael Biggs) is garnering such attention all of a sudden. Is it that an official UK government body has come out with a strong statement that quashes the suicide narrative? The fact that this statement has come out now that the new Labor government is in office?
Good point about Erin Reed. Reed has way too much credibility in the eyes of progressives.
I'm not sure that you can really call these "In Brief" anymore...
Two things that completely baffle me:

I hope the Pennsylvania Psychological Association doesn't come near me!
