Forgive the tardiness. I was trying to catch my breath, winded from chasing news. Of which there is just so much. Including: the UK Department of Health and Social Welfare’s “Review of suicides and gender dysphoria at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.” The aim: to find out if the claim that there had been a rash of youth suicides related to the waiting list for and closure of GIDS.
The conclusion: Wrong—both factually and morally.
Now do the United States, where members of a psychology-related listserv in Pennsylvania were barred from discussing the Cass Review. Colin Wright was kicked out of an NIH seminar, “Sex and Gender in the Clinic,” for…asking questions. We need help!
What else is happening, you might ask? Alejandra Q knows all.

I'm not sure that you can really call these "In Brief" anymore...
Two things that completely baffle me:
1) The influencer, activist, and pseudo-journalist Erin Reed. Reed has gained credibility out in the world for sober-sounding pieces that actually completely void of rigor. The most recent being raising the alarm about the "buried" research in the UK about suicide. Reed has a cover of legitimacy that those of us who just want truth and honesty to prevail find completely aggravating. Lisa, can you write a good take down of this person besmirching the profession?
2) What does the PPA think is going to happen if their folks read the CASS review? Do they actually think that the errors are so blatant that it will be instantly debunked or will people actually recognize the reasonableness of it? Are they choosing to shoot themselves in the foot? Is it reverse psychology from the psychology association?
