Thank you, Lisa—and good for you taking a Twitter break. This is a take home point for me: “So many different populations are hurt by the politicization of this issue (obviously, some more than others)—and by one side refusing to see objections as anything but bigoted.” It is hard not to feel overwhelmed so, as a counterpoint, I thought I’d note two things from this week that I found incredibly moving and heartening. One was Corinna Cohn’s beautiful piece here: https://open.substack.com/pub/corinnacohn/p/death-before-detransition-yes?r=16541&utm_medium=ios (Cohn credits Lisa and Ben Appel for “early feedback and notes”.) The other was LGBT Courage Coalition’s report on the lovely little band of folks who attended the endocrine society meeting: https://open.substack.com/pub/lgbtcouragecoalition/p/endocrine-society-conference-boston?r=16541&utm_medium=ios
In response to the very problematic Jack Turban, I would absolutely love it if Margot Thomas (and Alan Alda, too, maybe on his podcast) would step up and be true to her groundbreaking Free to be You and Me album and demand that Turban and others stop co-opting it. How powerful and helpful would it be if she were to say that William and Atalanta would now be transed instead of being allowed to grow up to be gender non-conforming or even more inherently just to challenge regressive, gender stereotypes?
What I would like to know is how do we shut the Overton window on "gender-affirming care"? How did this get normalized--cutting off the breasts of teen girls, putting children on puberty blockers?
Well, that was rhetorical. We know how we got here. While most of us were sleeping, activists were changing medical practices and laws.
The best nuance I can muster is that we need to make space for people with different ideas about gender--whether they are naturally GNC, or medically enhanced to appear as the opposite sex.
More private bathrooms? More sports that are unisex?
Thank you, Lisa, for reminding us to be compassionate toward trans people who face bullying and harassment. On another note, I find The Lancet’s position to be particularly discouraging, as it a UK publication and therefore flies in the face of the Cass Report.
June 7: Bill Maher has Abigail Schreir on his show, and discusses both "Bad Therapy" and "Irreversible Damages," mentioning the Cass Review, and the cancellation of journalists like Jesse Singal. This is BIG. I hope people were listening.
Without the testimonies of family members, that is ex-wives, siblings, parents of, children of those who ideate an opposite sex persona, we do not have the facts on the ideological, political capture the cross-sex cult imposes on all of us. Therapists, self-declared "experts" are the manipulators "managing" these patients' cases, choreographing exactly the toxic river of lies on social media. Trans widows' stories, actively silenced by groups posting dictates like "Trans Journalists Association Style Guide" prevent society learning the truth, actively criminalizing women who tell our stories:

I don't know.
No one should be bullied--for any reason.
We appreciate your voice, Lisa.

Phone Twitter is literally just for sucking down margaritas alone at a bar. So glad I got to grow up without these devices.
