I was astounded to see the Jesse Singal piece in NYT today. The tide is indeed turning.
Waiting to see if my comment goes through. I mentioned other writers being censored. I did restrain myself and not name the writers--that will never make it past the censors.
I'm sure many of you have seen today's op-ed by Jesse Singal in the NYT. I'm amazed they even published it.
They just opened up a comments section and I'm sure they're getting swamped. Since I know from long experience that my comments on this subject won’t get approved by the moderators, I won’t even try. But I hope that some of my fellow TERFs will get through:
Big News! Singal makes the Times. Another significant blow to "the science is settled" crowd. You laid the groundwork for this breakthrough, Lisa. Take a victory lap.
Thank you again Lisa for providing parents with this space - and thanks for including the Canadian article. The media coverage in Canada has been appalling.
I'm not too surprised by the UUnderworld response. Anyone not 100% on board with UUA doctrine already gets called every -ist and -ism in the book. John's just trying to get some sort of dialogue about UU issues out there, and the official magazine, UU World, wouldn't have given Trudeau half as nice a brush-off. In UU spaces trans is a third rail. A thoughtful and trusted interlocutor might be able to open some minds on questions around the tension between gender nonconformity and trans, watchful waiting and affirmation, etc, but it won't be Trudeau. He's a bull in a china shop and his relentless hammering on trans issues has probably burned out even dissident UUs on the whole conversation for a few seasons at least.
On a related note, I can't recall if it was covered in the BARpod episode or not, but one of UU's biggest blow-ups in recent memory was over an article in UU World. The theme for the issue was "We Will Never Be Perfect" and an old liberal lady wrote an article titled "After L, G, and B" wherein she described doing her best to respect and understand her trans grandchild or her grandchild's trans partner and stumbling over pronouns or something. You know, to go with the theme of the issue.
Anyway, everyone got really really mad about that. Lots of blog posts made about all that, and the whole next issue of the magazine was basically about how awful UUs are as trans allies and how awful it was that such a thing was ever published.
I think that was when I realized that the church as a whole was not doing well.
I know I have said this before, but I will keep saying it. This series is inspired and inspiring. Keep going! The Singal op-ed is definitely encouraging, and I was impressed with the way he replied to commenters. I was able to get a comment published, and I saw a few good sex realist pals who got through too. More cracks in the dam? Let us hope.
This is going to take an incredibly long time to correct with so many people genuinely believing they are doing the right thing for their child, and Democrats fully supporting this plague. Lawsuits and financial judgements will slow it , but true believers do not give up easily. There is a lot of ugliness yet to come, especially with so much of MSM captured by the trans advocates , the same way you see in medical profession.
Regarding the first quote, "it appears that many of the kids are rejecting our society’s binary, gendered norms," I think this is deeply mistaken. Those norms are being reinscribed as definitive, allegedly detached from sex; but the socialized behaviors remain largely intact. Just compare the high profile of transwomen against the relative invisibility of transmen.
I am one of those white heterosexual males who supports TERFS. Whenever i read about a child or woman who was abused by some far left, Trans loving, biophobic Socilaisty do-gooder, I see red. I am apalled that my white liberal female friends supports this shit. I say this on other platforms-all the Normies out there in the US who voted for Trump (or actually voted against the far left madness), need to vote in the '26 primaries. ANY politician who supports gender ideology, abuse of children, women or gays will not get my vote. Don't sit at home--the far-left will never stop and neither should we.
love the UU minister’s contribution.
Receipts! In the last year, I’ve sent 4 different sensible letters to the Ed of Boston Globe, re transing kids.
Publish them!
Thanks for sharing the receipts, Lisa!

I admire you-all's persistence. I keep my interventions opportunistic.
Love it. We need to see an article about the media's complicity. Jesse's piece was so effing amazing. Now its time to indict the media.

As a former UU, I found that the UU minister's letter was spot on.

Hey don’t spoil it for us blokes. If we change from actual sex to felt sex we get a legal peak!! And we can parade to the kids!! A two way win surely?

That is called Opinion.
