For me, “identify” with whatever “gender” floats one’s boat.
But base policy, law, social approbation on it?
That’s as foolish as basing those on one’s favourite colour, band, restaurant, or day of the week.

Gender, except when used as a euphemism for sex, doesn’t.
And since “gender” has been co-opted by trans activists, and used as a tool to deliberately obfuscate reality & glide between terms that refer to objective reality and subjective experiences, it needs to get written out of law entirely ASAP.
Gender identity as a concept is ridiculous as far as I’m concerned. Where I live the academics, trans activists, medical professionals and politicians have erased biology in law and replaced it with gender identity. Sorry I’m too old and not brainwashed enough to believe in this rot, I don’t have a gender identity I have a sex and that’s it. I don’t believe in a metaphysical gendered soul that can be changed once a year for the rest of my life back and forth via self id. That alone makes a mockery of those who do truly suffer from some form of body dysmorphia and shows that even those pushing this nonsense don’t believe in it themselves. Even AGP’s know they are men with a fetish. We are all being played for the transhuman agenda. As far as I’m concerned those who do believe they have a gender identity are the collateral damage of something far more sinister.
Karen Russo was more eloquent, but says the same thing at root 🤷♂️
And I’ve made far more substantial responses to similar posts on this important issue — posts that weren’t titled with a pair of questions that could be answered pithily.
But it’s your post on your Substack: so you do you.
I gave this the college try (as they say), but after 14 minutes, I had to wonder, why is this thought to be worth anyone’s time? It seemed to me, Lisa, that your commentary in those 14 minutes, with which I agreed, made clear the discussion wasn’t worth anyone’s time. The type of inward navel-gazing discussed here is a contemporary sickness about we know far more than enough, and time spent pondering it is time that could be far more constructively spent addressing the unending firehose of horrors we currently face on a whole host of fronts. What we need now is practical action. This is why I admire so much the practical, on the ground, work of the LGB Courage Coalition, the Women’s Sports Policy Working Group, the coalition of groups WoLF is spearheading to lobby members of Congress on women’s rights and safe spaces this week, and the work of state and local groups like Ma4women, Women Are Real, ROAR Women NYC, and so many others out there in the trenches fighting for real change.
I thought the point about assuming all trans people are good with good intentions rather than possibly not so good with bad motives was a good one. You may be able to use ideas like that on people who do not already have an opinion about trans ideology, but many of us on both sides already have our minds made up.
When they started called mothers "birthing bodies" and "inseminated persons," I stopped wondering what gender identity is. Cults must always diss nonbelievers and outsiders. This cult is particularly hateful to mothers. I just learned that one of the most outspoken trans widows, a mother of three, is now stopping her public work to bring out the abuse we've experienced, because her young adult children demanded it--they will lose too many friends. On motherhood:
Nothing and no one can make me believe in a gender identity.
2 sexes
0 genders
We are our bodies. No matter what we like to do, how we present, or who we love. No one is born in the wrong one.
To repeat this gender lie is dangerous to children’s development and to humankind, more broadly.

A load of bollocks, and NO.
And...this is why I don't usually have the "anyone can comment" setting on.
I’m honestly confused by your reply, LSD.
