“Anyone born in a woman’s body, or who transitions to one…”
I know you know this, but one cannot “transition” to a woman’s body. A man who has his parts cut off and new parts implanted is a man in a man’s body with missing parts and implants — not a woman’s body.
Thank you for sharing this Lisa. Very interesting to see how your understanding of the issues has evolved. Some parts of this essay stood the test of time, other parts felt cringey. I hope you get to update and publish this essay.
I respect you and your writing but any reference to John Money should include that he was a pedophile who conducted horrific experiments and advocated for sex with children. Also, there is no such thing as a cis woman.

In an interview published in Paidika, an
international journal for those advocating for
pedophilia, Dr. Money said that adult sex with
children is normal and often beneficial and
said, “regarding paedophilia [sic] that I would
never report anybody.” An Interview with John
Money, PAIDIKA: THE JOURNAL OF PAEDOPHILIA
