Here's an example as to why we need to keep our cool and aim for truth, not for victory (love that!):
As Alexandra Q correctly stated, there were many outlets that said that the Canadian Cancer Society apologized for using the word "cervix" instead of "front hole" (ugh, just typing these words makes me angry). I read the headline and fumed all the way to work, composing an angry email to the CCS in my mind. BUT! Turns out all is not what it seems.
Here's what happened: the Society published a page for "trans and gender-diverse individuals" who are seeking cervical cancer care and info, saying that they are using the word "cervix" for simplicity and "to normalize the reality that men can have these body parts too". The CCS did initially use language like "we recognize the limitations of the words we've used", and "we recognize that many trans men and non-binary people may have mixed feelings about or feel distanced from words like "cervix"". They removed this kind of language after the backlash, and now the page just says that some trans and non-binary people may use "front hole". https://cancer.ca/en/cancer-information/find-cancer-early/screening-in-lgbtq-communities/trans-man-or-nonbinary-person-assigned-female-at-birth-do-i-need-cervical-cancer-screening
Now, I totally agree that it's ridiculous that this conversation is even occurring. But I think it's important to be clear and truthful - the CCS did not apologize for using the word "cervix", and while the articles at least intimated that they may not keep using this word, this isn't actually the case. I think it was a poor (and very woke) attempt at explaining why they were going to keep using the word "cervix" even though some people may have negative feelings about it.
I don't think I needed to fume all the way to work.
Writing to you from all-gender bathroom country (a/k/a California) to note that the hummers brigade at CECD2 demonstrates how fully rationality has fled.
Kara Dansky has written a post reporting on that meeting honoring a young girl’s courageous and intelligent remarks. Here is the key takeaway from this wonderful young person, whose name is Ava: “Something I’ve learned about sports and school is about being curious and open-minded, and listening to every voice. That’s why I’m surprised that there’s resistance to Resolution 248, which (as far as I can tell) is about listening.”
I have read the resolution and can attest that she is right.
Is there an official link to the video for the Braver Angels debate?

Thank you for explaining this!

Required reading and entertaining! The legal history of gender doctor law.
Is this quite what is meant?
"In related New York News, the State Bar Association voted against banning trans-identified athletes from K-12 school sports."
Or were they just told to be in the sports team aligned with their sex?
Sometimes I think it’s getting better but this week, I read the summery and I am discouraged.
that Serano article was insufferable
