The New York Times published an interview with Dr. Hilary Cass, under the headline “Hilary Cass Says U.S. Doctors Are ‘Out of Date’ on Youth Gender Medicine.”
The Archives of Sexual Behavior published a paper called “Intersex Pretenders,” noting: “False claims of having an intersex condition have been observed in print, video, Internet media, and in live presentations.” Of those studied:
“Almost all (34/37) were transgendered, living, or aspiring to live, in their non-natal sex or as socially intergender…Some such pretenders appear to be avoiding the external or internalized stigma of an actual transgendered condition. Some appear, similarly to persons with factitious disorder, to be seeking attention and/or the role of a sick, disadvantaged, or victimized person. Some showed evidence of paraphilia, most frequently autogynephilia, and, in several cases, paraphilic diaperism. For some cases, such claims had been accepted as authentic by journalists or social scientists and repeated as true in published material.”
Then there was the revelation of the email between Johns Hopkins evidence-based medicine experts and the HHS’s ARHQ, acknowledging the lack of evidence for medical treatments for youth gender dysphoria. Funny, because HHS employee Rachel Levine claimed that gender-affirming care is “medically necessary, safe, and effective for trans and non-binary youth.”
And finally, as Alejandra Q writes, “English schoolteachers will now be barred from to teaching children that they can change their gender identity under new sex education rules. In what constitutes its first major overhaul in five years, the new statutory guidance released Thursday covers topics like relationships, sex education and health. According to the new guidance, ‘The contested theory of gender identity will not be taught and the guidance confirms copyright law should not be a barrier to sharing curriculum materials with parents - with the updated curriculum open for a nine week consultation from today.’ [Emphasis mine] While secondary school students will learn about legally 'protected' characteristics (sexual orientation and gender reassignment) the updated guidance clarifies that schools are not allowed to teach about gender Identity. The guidance also prohibits ‘explicit’ conversations about sex for students younger than 13.”
Game on. Of course, I’ve thought that before, but it really seems like there’s an actual pivot toward truth and complexity now. Well, except in media training programs, but more on that later.
And now, summaries and headlines from our indispensable Alejandra Q:

On Monday, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves signed Senate Bill 2753 (the Securing Areas for Females Effectively and Responsibly Act, “SAFER”) into law. The new law will restrict access to restrooms based on sex in public institutions, including schools.
The Alaska House adopted a measure that would prevent trans-identified male student athletes from accessing girls’ sports. This happened after a prolonged minority filibuster during the final week of the legislative session.
As reported previously, six sorority sisters sued Kappa Kappa Gamma over their admission of a trans-identified male, Artemis Langford, in their University of Wyoming chapter. Federal appellate court judges expressed doubts Tuesday about whether they could rule on the case or have it be heard by a lower court. A Wyoming judge threw out the lawsuit last year claiming that he could not override how an organization that is private and voluntary defined the term “woman”.
11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Monday upheld a lower court's May ruling that a Georgia county had discriminated against Anna Lange, a trans-identified sheriff's deputy, after refusing to pay for “gender-affirming” surgery.
A temporary block on Ohio’s bill banning pediatric gender affirmation (House Bill 68) that was set to expire on May 20 has been extended once more. A hearing on the motion for preliminary injunction and trial on the merits of the bill was originally scheduled for Thursday and Friday in a Franklin County Court. However, it is now scheduled for the week of July 15.
Eighteen states filed a lawsuit against the new guidance from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) which will now interpret harassment claims based on gender identity. The new guidance means that employers who do not use an individual’s preferred pronouns or name or who limit their employees’ access to bathrooms based on sex could face workplace harassment claims. Among the states joining the lawsuit are Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri and Ohio.
A New Hampshire bill that will restrict student access to the sports teams that align with their sex is now on the way to the governor's desk following Thursday’s approval by the state Senate. According to the bill, eligibility for sports teams for students in grades 5-12 will now be based on their birth certificates.
Justice Francis Ricigliano of Nassau County Supreme Court ruled Friday that County Executive Bruce Blakeman did not have the authority to bar trans-identified male athletes from women’s sports teams. Mr. Blakeman said to The New York Times that he plans to appeal the decision and “take all measures to protect the integrity of women’s sports.”
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and ACLU of Mississippi filed a complaint Wednesday with the US Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR) against the Harrison County School District (Mississippi). The complaint was filed on behalf of the mother of a trans-identified teenager (identified in legal documents as “A.H”) who was barred from attending a band concert while wearing a dress. According to the complaint, feminine clothing is “critically important to A.H.’s sense of self, gender expression, and identity as a girl.”
Christina Barton, an elementary school counselor, was allegedly expelled from a Minnesota teachers’ union after blowing the whistle on the school district’s policies for trans-identified students. Rochester Education Association's board voted to terminate Barton’s membership for “mischaracterizing” the district’s transgender guidelines. The association also accused Barton of “creating a hostile work environment” and “distorting the students’ progress”. In the meantime, Rochester Public Schools is moving this week to formalize its guidelines for trans-identified students into district procedure. Some Rochester citizens expressed concerns during a school board meeting addressing whether staff should inform parents about their child’s gender identity. Barton spoke at the meeting: “How would a parent know how to request such information if they aren’t aware their child is struggling with gender dysphoria? How would a parent be able to care for and support their student if the school never reached out to them.”
A Christian teacher was fired in 2022 from California's Jurupa Unified School District for not using students’ preferred pronouns and for refusing to hide students’ gender identities from parents. Jessica Tapia has now received a $360,000 settlement from her former employer, almost a year after she initially filed a lawsuit in a California federal court.
Sasha Jane Lowerson, an Australian trans-identified male surfer, had originally been banned from participating in the Huntington Beach Longboard Pro. Competition. The California Coastal Commission told competition organizers that they must allow Lowerson to compete in the women's division claiming that to exclude Lowerson would be in violation of state law. According to International Surfing Association (ISA) rules, trans-identified males are permitted to compete against women based on certain criteria surrounding testosterone levels.

Katherine Deves, a high-profile Australian lawyer, has stated that she is willing to represent any female athletes who “feel forced to play against male-born players’. This surrounds the controversy about the Flying Bats, an Australian amateur women soccer team with five trans-identified male teammates that went undefeated during the four-week tournament.
An undercover Mail on Sunday reporter posing as a teen girl was able to purchase “large quantities” of puberty blockers from websites in Turkey, Hong Kong and Russia. The reporter accessed these by following advice and links from popular websites like Facebook and Reddit. This happened despite the NHS ban on the prescription of puberty blockers for minors that came into effect this March.
Kaimes School, an Edinburgh school serving severely autistic children, has been criticized for having overhauled its curriculum on how it teaches the topics of biological sex and gender to win “charter status” from the charity LGBT Youth Scotland (LGBTYS). Carolyn Brown, a former educational psychologist who helped draw up the Scottish autism strategy, spoke to The Telegraph on the issue, “This is the opposite of what a specialist school in autism should be doing. These youngsters will interpret things very literally and see the world in black and white. If you tell them they can be a member of the opposite sex, then they will really believe that. Showing them nonsense like the gingerbread person, which is highly regressive and misleading, is only going to make them very confused.”
Following the publication of the tenth edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD by the World Health Organization), the Peruvian government released a decree Friday that declares “transsexualism” to be a mental health problem to be covered by its universal health insurance. Peru’s Ministry of Health (MINSA) clarified that the judgement does not imply trans identified individuals should undergo “reconversion therapies.”
