I listened to this series too. In fact, I studied it. And by the last episode, it bothered the hell out of me. I expect it will do quite a lot of damage to a lot of people's minds, when it comes to forming sensible opinions about gender-related policies and the "gender affirming" medical scandal that's already going to take decades to put an end to and clean up after.

I recently listened to a conversation between Lionel Shriver and Mary Harrington (see https://youtu.be/OF-BRfYw62M?si=58LbpaDpU5tR2njn&t=2177 ), in which they theorize just what caused the hollowing out of our Enlightenment/Judeo-Christian cultural inheritance. They express sympathy for the younger generations growing up in a secular society with its sense of morality so watered down that it offers them a pretty barren moral landscape. Stripped of afterlife and redemptive myth, the young expect nothing from their futures but apocalypse and resource scarcity -- so no wonder they opt for childlessness ("Or," I am thinking, "the shallow navel-gazing project of trying to construct 'authenticity' within themselves by means of drugs and radical surgeries.").

And my thought too is how they'll become easy marks for pieces of work like that evangelizer of "Queer Christianity" also featured in Atonement, "TikTok Pastor" Brandan Robertson. By the end of the series, it became obvious to me that the hapless, vacuous and easily guilted John Paulk had managed to get himself pulled into becoming a useful figurehead for yet another cult.

"With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil—that takes religion." -- Steven Weinberg (physicist)

I'm coming around to the realization that not all religions are equally hazardous to the characters of those human beings who observe them . . . and a lot of the newly-invented ones turn out to be recycled ancient heresies.

I doubt many—or any—of the truly guilty of “gender care” crimes will ever atone. How can they? They’re so convinced of their righteousness & virtue! They’ll never give that up.

Evil never arrives introducing itself as evil. It always insists that “I’m here to help you. I just want the best for you.”

What if the drugs advance like all medical science does . People 200 years ago thought heart transplants were fantasy. You seem to be luddites short sighted in your own stagnated beliefs .

BTW Bari Weiss is gay . She controls the media now ?

The cult of trans isn't going away anytime soon . . . it's become a Christian sect.

Being gay is not a “proclivity.” Nor is having gay sex. I appreciate this blog but I was disappointed by that word choice.

Hm, I don’t know if I agree. “A proclivity is a natural, habitual, or inherent tendency and predisposition to behave in a particular way.” Sexuality is a predisposition, no?

PS, I don’t know why that text is bold!

Perhaps “behaving” is different from experiencing sexual attraction.

It’s usually used with a negative connotation. Here’s Merriam-Webster’s definition: “an inclination or predisposition toward something

especially : a strong inherent inclination toward something objectionable”

Cambridge English dictionary: “the fact that someone likes something or likes to do something, especially something considered morally wrong”

This comment made me look up the word "proclivity" as I found it to be suitable for this context. I was disappointed to see that some of the sources did indicate "especially something considered morally wrong" as I have never thought of this word this way. I object to this very useful and, in my opinion, utterly delightful word being pigeonholed and hope that we can continue to use it in a more objective manner. Dictionaries only describe, rather than dictate, how words are used so maybe if we keep using it without the negative connotation, we can see that clause omitted from the definition in the future! I have complete faith that Lisa did not intend to imply negativity about same-sex attraction. What word to use instead? I guess for some reason, "propensity" hasn't gotten the same bad rap that "proclivity" has gotten!
